Interior Community Services would like to express our grief and sorrow in solidarity and ally-ship with the Tkemlups te Secwepemc peoples. The 215 children who were murdered as part of a government sanctioned genocide will not go unremembered. There is no “history” here this systemic violence continues, and we will honor these children and the many other murdered, missing, and harmed indigenous peoples through respectful dialogue, and continued learning.
We as an agency commit to respectfully give space and time for the indigenous peoples of this land to digest, ask questions, acknowledge and to process this in their own way – and however they see fit to. If asked we will provide supports if we’re welcomed to do so, and to acknowledge the impact that this incredibly tragic event will and has caused.
In Honor, Respect and Memoriam
Many have asked how they can support the Tkemlups te Secwepemc.
Here are some suggestions from the Tkemlups te Secwepemc Office of the Chief.
